Lucky Cat Corner

 By Mary Ann Greene

Dear Readers,

Sadly, the time has come once again to tell the tale of a near tragedy and to ask for your help in raising money to cover the cost of the surgery that gave this lucky little kitten ...

... a second chance at life.

On January 4, a little five-week old orange tabby kitten crawled up underneath a car either to seek warmth or to find a secure place to spend the night.

Unfortunately, he didn’t know to get away fast when the car door banged shut signaling that the engine was about to start.  His tail was severed and his right rear leg was left hanging by a strand of muscle.

Thankfully someone knew to call Gretchen Bernhardt at Adopt A Cat Foundation who transported the kitten to the home of our founder and president, Inga Hanley.  She rushed him to All Animal Care Clinic where Dr. Stefan Zuercher found it necessary to amputate the rear leg as there was no saving it.  Dr. Zuercher also had to take the remainder of kitty’s tail down to the first vertebra.  He now looks like a little Manx.

Howard, as his foster parents (MaryAnn & Keith Greene) have named him, is recuperating and doing very well.  He is expected to make a full recovery and will be looking for a permanent, loving, and caring home very soon.  If you are interested in adopting Howard, please call Inga Hanley at 307-3962.

Donations to help pay for Howard’s surgery can be sent to Adopt A Cat Foundation, 12189 U.S. Hwy 1, Ste. 49 - PMB 91, North Palm Beach, FL 33408.  Please write “Howard” in the memo area of your check.
