Inga Hanley

Founder, Adopt A Cat Foundation

Inga always loved animals. Her deep affection blossomed with her well-known “Pampered Poodle” pet-grooming business. As her business grew, so did Inga’s reputation. Through the years, word spread about her care and famous grooming skills that turned-out well-kept pooches in the North County section of Palm Beach County.

It wasn’t long before Inga also became known for her dedication to animals. As a result, people began asking her for help with stray cats. Unable to turn down any animal in need, Inga began accepting these ragamuffins into her business. From this humble beginning, Adopt A Cat was born just as the new century was beginning. A year later, in 2001 Adopt A Cat received its charitable organization status and became the only all-cat, no-kill rescue shelter in Palm Beach County.

It remains so to this day.

Inga’s Adopt A Cat shelter became the go-to place for homeless and stray felines cats and kittens that other rescue organizations turned away – the maimed, the deformed, those with behavioral issues and those abandoned by society or their owners.

With the help of dozens of loving and like-minded people, Inga and her team of Adopt A Cat volunteers found forever homes for thousands of otherwise unwanted cats. And, through their use of the Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return program, they helped to prevent tens of thousands of unwanted feral kittens from being euthanized.

Inga passed away in December 2020, but her legacy of dedication and love for cats continues. Today, the Inga Hanley Rescue Shelter at Adopt A Cat Foundation in West Palm Beach, Florida, remains the go-to place where stray cats and kittens can receive care and adoption into their forever homes.
